Travel Journals

One of the classes I took at art school was book making - the traditional craft of creating and binding pages into beautiful books. We were taught to make our own sketch books, an established practice in European art. Over the last 15 years, I have used these small books to document my travels, collecting images and drawings, painting in water colour and jotting stories of my family adventures.  I am married to a German translator and historian and together with our two daughters we have travelled to many interesting places in Europe. Each journey and book has been a source of inspiration for further paintings and artworks. I have taken some of the interesting and mixed-media pages here to share with you.

The Alhambra - Spain, Annecy - France, Nerja - Spain, and the Art Hotel - Berlin.
